LT Copper/Aluminium Conductor PVC/XLPE Power Cables

Torque Cables PVC insulated Cables are manufactured as per IS:1554/Part-1/1988 and XLPE Insulated Cables as per IS:7098/Part-1/1988.


Conductor
The conductor of power cables is made from Aluminium or Copper. All conductors are conforming to IS: 8130. The conductors are solid / stranded / compact circular / sector shaped.

Insulation
The PVC Power Cables Conductor is insulated with the poly vinyl chloride as insulation by extrusion process and the XLPE Power Cables is insulated with Cross Linked Polyethylene covering as insulation over conductor by extrusion process.

For identification of cores the following colour scheme is adopted.

1 Core Red, Yellow, Blue , Black
2 Cores Red & Black
3 Cores Red, Yellow & Blue
3.5 & 4 Cores Red, Yellow, Blue & Black (Reduced Neutral Core in case of 3.5 Core)

LT Copper Conductor PVC/XLPE Control Cables
Torque Cables 1.1 kV grade copper conductor control cables of 1.5 sqmm and 2.5 sqmm are manufactured up to 61 cores as per the relevant specifications with Armoured and Unarmoured . The control cables are provided with PVC as well as XLPE insulation upto 61 cores.
Construction Details - LT Copper Control Cables

VOLTAGE :
The AC Voltage up to & including 1100 V or DC up to & including 1500 V.

Size :
1.5 Sq. mm. & 2.5 Sq. mm. up to 61 Cores.

CONDUCTOR :
Annealed Bare Copper in Solid / Stranded conforming to IS:8130:1984.

INSULATION :
Conductor are insulated with PVC Compound as per IS:5831:1984 and XLPE also as per specific requirement of customer's

COLOR OF CORES :
Cores are identified with a color scheme as per IS:1554(Pt-I):1988 as under

1 Core - Red, Yellow, Blue , Black
2 Cores - Red & Black
3 Cores - Red, Yellow & Blue.
3 ½ & 4 Cores - Red, Yellow, Blue & Black. (Reduced Neutral Core in case of 3 ½ Core)
5 Cores - Red, Yellow, Blue, Black & Grey

In case of cable exceeding five cores, two adjacent (counting and direction cores ) in each layer shall be colored Blue, Yellow and remaining cores grey / Cores can be identified by numbers by numerals on the outer surface of the core as per IS : 1554 : Part-1 : 1988 & IS : 7098 : Part-1 : 1988 or as per customer's requirement.

LAYING Of CORES :
Cores are laid up with a suitable lay. The Final layer direction shall be kept right hand lay.

INNER SHEATH :
The Inner Sheath is applied over laid up of cores by extrusion.

ARMOURING :
Armouring is applied over inner sheath.If the calculated diameter over inner sheath does not exceed 13 mm the galvanized round steel wires are used for armouring. Where the calculated diameter over the inner sheath is exceed to 13 mm the galvanized flat wires are used for armouring.

OUTER SHEATH :
A final covering of PVC Compound, conforming to IS:5831:84, is applied over Armouring in case of Armored Cable or over Inner Sheath in case of Unarmored Cable.

The Insulation, Inner Sheath & outer sheath can be HR , FR & FRLS PVC Compound depending upon their application.

Control cables are generally used for underground as well as over head transmission of power to the control panels in power plants, industries, projects and all the electrical systems.

Scope :- 2 cores to 37 cores in 1.5 & 2.5 sq mm sizes with PVC/ XLPE/ HR PVC Insulation.

1.1 kV grade Solid/Stranded round copper conductor , Conducor insulated , cores laid up, taped inner sheath / extruded inner sheath / armoured with round wire or flat strip of galvanized steel or unarmoured type, with extruded outer sheath.

Overall sheath FR-PVC , FRLS-PVC , LSZH depending upon the application.

Multicore unscreened / overall screened cables are also manufactured as per BS:5308-II/86 / customer's requirements.

We can also supply polyethylene insulated instrumentation cables as per BS:5308-I/86.

We can also supply PVC / PE insulated instrumentation cables as per customer's requirements or as per various National / International standards such as IEC, BS, VDE, IS, BHEL, NTPC etc.

Conductor material shall be annealed bare copper or annealed tinned copper as required.

Insulation / sheathing material used is PVC, HR-PVC and Polyethylene as per customer's requirement.

Shielding material shall be as per customer's requirement. Some types of shielding materials used are given below:-
Aluminium mylar tape screening alongwith drain wire of ATC.
Copper tape screening alongwith drain wire of ATC.
ABC / ATC wire braiding

Armouring material in case of armoured cables can be of Galvanised steel round wire / strip as per customer's requirements.

Cables can also be supplied with Flame retardant(FR) or Flame Retardant Low Smoke(FRLS) or Low Smoke.
Zero Halogen(LSZH) sheathing compounds as per specific requirements of customer.

These Cables are manufactured using Flame Retardant halogen Free Compound. These cables are ideal for used in where high performance, reliability, human safety is required.

Aerial Bunched Cables
Aerial Bunched Cable (ABC) is a very innovative concept for overhead power distribution as compared to the conventional bare conductor overhead distribution system. It is being designed, manufactured & tested conforming to IS: 14255 & other international specifications. It provides higher level of safety and reliability, lower power losses and ultimate system economy by reducing installation, maintenance and operative cost.

Construction
XLPE/HDPE insulated power conductors of Aluminium (Neutral conductor and street lighting conductor if and when necessary) are laid together around Aluminium Alloy insulated or bare messenger wire to form the Aerial Bunched Cable.This assembly is directly strung on to distribution pole/towers.

Advantages
Aerial Bunched Cables Lines have very high reliability in maintaining services because power and neutral conductors are insulated with the best dielectric. The benefits of using this line are:
Less fault rage on account of good protection against line and ground fault by high winds or falling trees or bird especially in hilly areas & forests as encountered in rural distribution networks.
High insulation resistance to earth in all seasons.
High capacitance and low inductance leading to low impedance of lines.
Lower voltage drop, higher current carrying capacitates.
Total lines costs are reduced.
Maintenance is very easy.
